Mi amiga de otra vida
Tuve la oportunidad de encontrarme con Victoria Gongora después de más de veinte años. Nos conocimos trabajando en la telenovela Colombiana, Adonde Va Soledad. Compartimos un cuarto en Mariquita donde se filmaron los primeros capítulos y nos volvimos amigas inmediatamente. Mi gran recuerdo de Victoria es que ella le tenia un respeto profundo hacia todos los animales, incluyendo insectos. No me dejo matar un bicho que se habia entrado al cuarto. Hasta el día de hoy, si encuentro una araña en la tina, la saco con un poco de papel en vez de matarla. Eso se lo debo a Victoria 😇
En el 2003, me volví para los Estados Unidos y pasaron los años hasta que nos volvimos a encontrar por Instagram. Nos reunimos en la ciudad de Berkeley recientemente y fue como si no hubiera pasado un día-la prueba de una buena amistad.
I met Victoria Gongora while shooting the Colombian telenovela, Adonde Va Soledad and we became friends immediately. Victoria has a deep respect for all animals. I learned this while we were shooting the first few episodes in Mariquita, a small town about a hundred miles northeast of Bogota. A bug got into the room we were sharing and I was ready to squash it with my shoe. She ran over, picked it up and dropped it out the window. To this day, if I find a spider in the tub, I scoop it it out with a piece of paper instead of killing it. I owe that to Victoria.
I returned to the U.S. in 2003 and we lost touch until we followed each other on Instagram a few years ago. I got to meet up with her wonderful family in Berkeley recently and we picked up right where we left off back in Bogota-the mark of a true friendship.
