I’m not usually drawn to vampire stories, but Sinners completely captivated me through its music, movement, and extraordinary performances. The night became unforgettable when Delroy Lindo and Denzel Washington walked in to speak about craft and their decades-long friendship, reminding me exactly why this work matters.

I saw the film Sinners last week, and while vampire stories are not usually my cup of tea, I was completely captivated by the way the story unfolded—through music, rhythm, and movement. The dancing, the sound, the pulse of it all pulled me in. The acting was stellar across the board. Michael B. Jordan’s dual performances were extraordinary, precise, and fully inhabited. Miles Caton, who played Sammie, brought such beautiful artistry to the role—it’s hard to believe he had never played guitar before filming. Every time he sang or played, it felt alive and effortless.
Actors Without an Introduction
As if that weren’t enough, after the screening Delroy Lindo—who delivered an Oscar-worthy performance—and Denzel Washington, a true giant of an actor, walked onstage without introduction and began talking about their craft. What followed was a rare gift: two actors reflecting on a 48-year friendship born at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. They joked, traded accolades, and reminisced about their early years in theatre and film. Their humility, generosity, and shared humanity spilled out into the audience. It was one of those nights that reminds you why the work matters. What a night.
